When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. The retention phase lasts for a minimum of 24 months. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far.

Caring for your retainer is easy. Just follow these simple rules:
- Retainers are worn mostly at bedtime. You will be instructed as to how many hours you will need
to wear your retainer.
- Do not eat while wearing your retainer. You may drink water only with retainer inserted.
- Brush, rinse and dry the retainer daily using cool water.

Do not boil or place in mouth wash to clean.
- Store in a safe place. Out of reach of pets (Dogs love them).
- Be sure to brush and floss your lower fixed retainer as instructed.
- Avoid biting into apples or sticky foods with a lower fixed retainer.
- Call the office immediately if your retainer is lost or broken.
- Bring upper retainer to each check up appointment.
